About

Welcome to my website! I am a writer and poet living in the Forest of Dean, England.

I enjoy all types of writing from both fiction and non-fiction, but have mainly focused on short stories and poetry, many of which have been published in Graffiti, Stroud Short Stories, Eye Flash Poetry, Ink Tears, Strange Days books, Hammond House Publishing and Hedgehog Press as well as several anthologies of fiction based on local history. My work has won awards in numerous national and international competitions, including the Magic Oxygen Literary Prize, Ware Poets Competition, Wells Festival of Literature and the Bridport Prize.

In 2020 I released my memoir In My Father’s Memory which is an uplifting story of the relationship between a father and daughter during the final years of the father’s life. The memoir is based on the the notes I made during the six years I spent caring for my father in my own home after his diagnosis of dementia. Much of this was written while completing my MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University and the resulting manuscript was shortlisted for the Janklow & Nesbit prize.

I am a member of a vibrant writing circle which has many talented members, as well as participating in three poetry groups all of which provide opportunities for workshopping my writing. I regularly assist with the running of local writing festivals and other events and I have been a judge for the annual U3A Wales Short Story Competition since 2018.
